Former MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, who began his nine-day ‘Odarpu
Yatra’ from Kothavalasa in the district from Monday, condemned what he
called “the mudslinging” by the TDP “in collusion with the Congress”
against his father and former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.
“They are casting aspersions on YSR even after his tragic death about two years ago, which is unfortunate.”
Addressing public meetings at Kothavalasa and S.Kota after unveiling statues of YSR at Kothavalasa, Vellampudi, Vepada and S.Kota, Mr. Jagan limited his speech to about five minutes and recalled the welfare schemes such as Rajiv Arogyasri, old-age pensions, pavala vaddi, scholarships to students and free power to farmers that his father had introduced during his regime.
At Vepada, where he unveiled the statue of YSR, the dais gave in, but Mr. Jagan escaped unhurt.
