SRIKAKULAM: Roads and Buildings Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao on Saturday said the Congress party was geared up to spread its ideology with the support of intellectuals, retired officials and employees apart from its activists in the wake of challenge posed by YSR Congress Party.
Speaking to The Hindu , he said the party leadership was keen to strengthen all the frontal organisations including Youth Congress, NSUI, INTUC and Sevadal before the foundation day of Congress on December 28, 2011.
“It is true that a few leaders including my brother and Narasannapeta MLA Dharmana Krishnadas left the party. The setback to Congress is temporary as the party always garners the support of each and every section irrespective the popularity of its leaders. In the current scenario, we will give top priority for spreading ideology with the adoption of new strategies,” Mr.Prasada Rao said. “Telugu Desam, TRS, YSR Congress parties are controlled by a few families unlike Congress party. BJP is identified with a particular religion. So, people continue to respect and vote Congress party in the next elections too as it does not belong to any caste, creed or family,” he added.
Reacting to controversies such as Kannedhara granite lease and power plants, the Minister alleged that opposition parties with the support of a few media houses were trying to malign Congress party in Srikakulam which was turned into a bastion for the ruling party since 2004.
