Departments implementing YSR’s schemes deliberately made defunct: MLC

Hyderabad, June 28: MLC and YSR Congress Party leader Jupudi Prabhakar Rao on Monday alleged that the state government has effectively made the Departments have the power to implement the welfare schemes and programmes launched by former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy by not releasing adequate funds to them.
Mr Prabhakar Rao told media persons at the Assembly Media Point that the state government’s failure to release adequate funds for these Departments was in line with its negligent attitude towards Dr YSR’s schemes.
The MLC alleged that the state government has completely ignored the former chief minister’s schemes to the extent that the SC/ST/BC students residing in Welfare Hostels were in the pathetic condition. “The state government has failed to release funds to purchase cosmetics and other items of their (the students’) daily use, necessary books and uniforms despite the opening of schools.
Mr Prabhakar Rao further alleged the state government has effectively made the Departments concerned with the implementation of the welfare schemes defunct by not releasing the requisite funds to them.
“Besides this, the state government has removed the names of more than 3 lakh students from the list of eligible candidates for reimbursement of fee, citing attendance or other reasons,” the YSR Congress Party leader said.
This failure of the government to implement Dr YSR’s schemes is the main reason behind the Local Body chairpersons, who were elected with the support of the former chief minister, quitting the Congress and joining the YSR Congress Party, Mr Prabhakar Rao said.
He advised the government to ‘open its eyes at least now and implement the schemes in letter and spirit. The MLC warned the state government that it would face the wrath of people if it fails to implement the welfare schemes.
