After an hour-long hearing Dhulipala Narendra Kumar, whip representing TDP, told media persons that he drove home the point that Mr. Reddy should be disqualified without any further delay, as the party had submitted the petition two years ago.
Mr. Reddy, who attended the hearing along with his advocate, said he would comment on the proceedings on Tuesday evening after he argues his case before the Speaker. Today only the TDP expressed its views.
Documents
Mr. Narendra Kumar said he listed the anti-party activities of Mr. Reddy with the help of CDs and documents. Though elected on a TDP ticket in 2009 Assembly elections, Mr. Reddy began writing open letters questioning the leadership and the party policies.
He continued his tirade in the debates on television channels.
Closely associating himself with YSR Congress and its leader Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, Mr. Prasanna Kumar Reddy participated in all his (Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy) protest meetings and rallies, he said.
The Kovur MLA not only sought that Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy should be made APCC president but also boasted that the latter enjoyed the support of 222 Congress MLAs.
All this showed that Mr. Prasanna Kumar Reddy had deliberately violated party discipline attracting action under the provisions of the Tenth Schedule of the Constitution.
The Speaker should take action to uphold the Constitution that discouraged defection from the party from which a member gets elected and democracy.
Asked whether the party would make a similar petition against suspended MLA Nagam Janardhan Reddy, Mr. Narendra Kumar hinted that the party could do it but wondered when it would come up for hearing when the one against Mr. Prasanna Kumar Reddy took two years.
