Eyeing local body elections, YSR Congress Party began
membership drive in Srikakulam district to prove its strength. A crucial
meeting was held in Srikakulam town on Wednesday to chalk out action
plan to take up membership drive in all villages. Ad hoc committees
would be appointed for all the constituencies to monitor the membership
drive. The party planned to admit at least 200 members out of 700 voters
in each polling booth.

Suryanarayana, Varudu Kalyani, Duppala Ravindrababu and Andhavarapu
Suribabu addressed the party activists and asked them to take up
membership drive seriously to build up the party from grassroots level.
YSR Congress was planning to attract more number of Congress workers in
Srikakulam town, a bastion of ruling party since 2004. It had planned to
improve its network in Narasannapeta, Tekkali, Itchapuram and other
constituencies with the joining of senior leaders and support of
Congress MLAs Dharmana Krishnadas and Korla Bharati.
The
party leaders asked the activists to explain the ‘injustice' done to
the YSR's family and reasons for launching a new party to protect the
interests of the common man. Mr.Suryanarayana and Mr.Ravindrababu said
the party would win the hearts of all the sections and by-elections in
Kadapa indicated the mood of the voters.
