As preparations are in full swing for the keenly-awaited plenary
session of the YSR Congress Party, the focus is on the number of
Congress legislators who might turn up for the mega event.
According to sources, 40 ruling party MLAs have been sent invitations for the plenary.
It remains to be seen as to how many of them will attend. This will
determine the exact strength of YSR Congress Party and its potential to
create trouble for the Kiran Kumar Reddy government.
In the past, the number of Congress legislators participating in Jagan’s yatras and rallies varied from 16 to 25.
The Congress leadership is also keeping a close eye on the movement of its MLAs.
The two-day plenary session will begin on July 8 with the meeting of
central governing council, the party’s decision-making body. The party
chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy will make the inaugural address.
The party will pass a series of resolutions covering political, economic and social issues.
Most importantly, the political observers are keenly awaiting the party’s stand on the contentious Telangana issue.
“We will announce a clear-cut policy on Telangana,” the party leader Bhooma Nagireddy said.
