The opposition Telugu Desam Party on saturday exhorted the party
cadre to get ready to unitedly face the coming local body elections and
teach a lesson to the ruling Congress.
Addressing the TDP District SC wing meeting, party State vice-president Karnam Balarama Krishnamurthy alleged that the Kiran Kumar Reddy Government had neglected welfare of the downtrodden people.
He said the YSR Congress party led by Y S Jaganmohan Reddy would only go the way of Praja Rajyam Party formed by actor-turned-politician K Chiranjeevi.
The TDP alone would be able to provide an effective alternative to the Congress, he asserted.
TDP Polit Bureau member Sidda Raghava Rao said dalits got proper recognition only after the TDP's formation.
Presiding over the meeting, SC cell district president Kommuri Ravichandra said the Congress had treated dalits as mere ''vote bank''.
