TIRUPATI: Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday said that it was a shame on the part of Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and his Cabinet colleagues that they had taken to their heels by abruptly adjourning the House without allowing discussion when the TDP tabled a no-confidence motion recently against the government.
Addressing a party workers' meeting at Tirupati, Mr. Naidu, in the same breath, also taunted Kadapa MP and YSR Congress president Jaganmohan Reddy for indulging only in rabble about toppling the Kiran Kumar Reddy government without even a semblance of movement in the direction.
“Why is Jaganmohan Reddy who always brags that the Kiran Kumar government would crumble like a pack of cards if only he reddened his eyes (with fury) not showing it in action by parading before the Governor all the MLAs who are supporting him?” Mr. Naidu asked.
He charged Mr. Jagan with using “money power” to “purchase” MLAs and trigger political crisis in all parties and turmoil in the State for his own survival and asserted that the he and the TDP knew how to counter his political game plan. “It is only a matter of time before Jagan lands in jail for all his crimes,” Mr. Naidu said.
In an indirect reference to the oft-made criticism that it was he who ‘slow-poisoned' the Chittoor Government Dairy to protect the interests of his own Heritage Milk Foods unit, Chandrababu sought to turn the table against the Congress saying that it was during its regime that the unit got steeped in debts and became defunct.
Going further, Naidu also said that unlike leaders of Congress and YSR Congress parties who made deep forays into the multi-crore steel, cement and mining sectors, his family members are engaged only in the milk and the horticulture line in a humble way.
He also lashed at the Kiran government for its failure to take tangible steps to address the problems of farmers and criticised that under the garb of its much-touted ‘rythu sadassus' it was only ‘duping' the farmers and wasting everybody's time. Naidu also accused the government of ‘cheating' its farmers in the name of ‘Pavala Vaddi' scheme while the other states were providing loans to its farmers at a mere 2 per cent interest. Among the other participants were the party MLAs, G. Muddukrishnama Naidu, B. Gopalakrishna Reddy, Praveenkumar Reddy, and Amarnadha Reddy.
