YSR Congress' State-wide protests tomorrow

VISAKHAPATNAM: The YSR Congress will organise state-wide demonstrations to protest “the anti-farmer and anti-people policies” of the State government on Monday at all district headquarters in front of the Collectorates.
Announcing this at a media conference here on Saturday, former minister and district convener of the party Konathala Ramakrishna said the dharna would be held by farmers from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. “It is a pity that a farmer-friendly government of YSR who gave free power, waiver of loans and remunerative prices for farmers has now turned hostile. Though there is bumper crop of paddy, there are no storage facilities or support price and the farmer, instead of rejoicing at high productions, is rueing why he had produced it at all,” he pointed out. He also said the Chief Minister had failed to provide even input subsidy, and felt that the Congress government in the State and at the Centre should procure paddy from farmers and take steps to stabilise the market.
Asked who were the legislators supporting YS Jaganmohan Reddy, son of late YSR and Kadapa MP, Mr. Ramakrishna shot back, “Tells us who is not with him.” In the event of moving a no-confidence motion in the Assembly, the State Congress government was bound to fall, he stated.
